It’ll be far from the wurst day in Penge’s history when Penge goes beer and sausage crazy for a day later this month.
Pengefest, an SE20 version of Oktoberfest, will be held from 12 till 5 on the High Street on Saturday 28th September and there will be plenty of things to keep you glücklich (whether you choose to sport lederhosen or not).
The day will have:
- Music! A live performance by The London Oompah band, plus Radio Penge
- Beer! Southey Brewing Co, Three Hounds Beer Company and Craft Metropolis will be selling frothing tankards of ale and lager
- Sausages! Murray Brothers will be selling their own special bangers.
- Stalls with food, crafts and sporting activities
+ in the week running up to the event, The Goldsmiths, The Pawleyne Arms, The Bridgehouse, The Alexandra, The Maple Tree and The Moon and Stars will be participating in a beer Stamp. Buy a drink from each pub, get your leaflet stamped by each and you can receive a free Pengefest eco-cup on the day.
As a prelude to the celebrations, the Mayor from Bromley’s town twin Neuweid in Germany and the Mayor of Bromley will come to Penge on 21st September to officially open Pengefest. He will be greeted by our very own Town Crier John Getgood to meet many of the High Street traders, introduce the Pengefest beer stamp and sample The Penge Sausage. The towns of Bromley and Neuwied have celebrated 30 years of friendship, so please come and support us and meet some of the Twinning team from 2pm.
Gifts will be presented by The Pengefest Team from Pressgang and the Penge Heritage Trail project co-ordinator Chris O’Shaughnessy , who will also give more details on The Penge Heritage Trail.
The organisers would like to thank our partners, The Penge Traders Association and The Penge SE20 Bid for their support and sponsorship and The Bromley Town Twinning Association for all its help. All profit made will go towards funding the Penge High Street Christmas Lights.
