‘On Your Marks!’ is the name of the engagement programme exploring the future of Crystal Palace National Sports Centre.
While the Centre’s facilities have seen better days, changes can be made to transform it into a hub for leisure and sport that works for the whole community. In 2019 the Mayor will set out a plan for the Centre’s future. The Centre might look slightly different – but its record of providing a space for sports and recreation, health and well-being, that meets the needs of both sports communities and local people will be firmly secured.
A dedicated website was launched earlier this month, to begin raising awareness of the On Your Marks project and there are a range of ways to get involved across the rest of 2018. Indeed, the first public events start this Friday and Saturday with a pop-up engagement at the Centre, offering the chance to tell the On Your Marks team about how you use the Centre, and your aspirations for its future. Look out for the team wearing ‘On Your Marks!’ shirts. These will be followed by four Coached by the Community Workshops, where participants will support the ‘On Your Marks!’ team to better understand current usage, existing assets, important values and key priorities for the Centre.
Coached by the Community Workshops
Workshop 1 – Wednesday 29 August, 6:30 – 8:30 PM
Workshop 2 – Thursday 30 August, 6:30 – 8:30 PM
Workshop 3 (Clubs & Coaches) – Tuesday 4 September, 7:00 – 9:00 PM
Workshop 4 (Clubs & Coaches) – Wednesday 5 September, 7:00 – 9:00 PM
Don’t worry if you can’t make it along to any of these opening events. There will be more detailed consultation taking place in October and November, offering the public a chance to view and comment on initial plans for the Centre’s future. Details about all forthcoming events will be posted on the engagement website once finalised:
