The people of Penge have spoken once more.
We asked our Facebook and Twitter followers to vote for their favourite Penge shop, cafe, restaurant, pub and takeaway. And vote they did – in their hundreds.
Without further ado, we’re very happy to announce their Penge Picks.
Drum roll please…
Best restaurant: Sicilian Art Pizzeria
Say cheese! They’ve not yet been open a year but the boys at the Sicilian Art Pizzeria are the tops.
Highly commended: Friends of Flavours
Best shop: Murray Brothers
Our very own master butchers are great at serving up the finest tender cuts and the cheeriest banter.
Highly commended: Penge Food Centre, SE20 Cycles
Best café: Alexandra Nurseries
The plants and vintage nick nacks are a fantastic distraction while you wait for your yummy coffee and homemade cake.
Highly commended: Blue Belle Cafe
Best pub: Goldsmiths Arms
They reopened less than two years ago, but the ‘smiths has become a social focal point for many in the community, whether it’s for music, quizzes, ping pong, the Food Assembly or just nattering over a pint or tasty meal.
Highly commended: Bridge House Tavern
Best takeaway: Himalayan Kitchen
Just tucked away down Penge Lane, South London’s friendliest family serve up amazing Nepalese tucker and the widest smiles for miles.
Highly commended: Nemo’s Fish & Chips
And finally… In recognition of her excellent service as our Town Centre Manager, the Penge Tourist Board would like to present a special SE20 Community Award to Cheryl Curr of Bromley Council, who took redundancy recently. Thanks Cheryl for your hard work and commitment to Penge.
